Adoptions Counselor

Help animals find the perfect match! Join the Santa Fe Animal Shelter adoption team. Ideal applicant must be personable, have excellent communication and organizational skills, while working respectfully with the public in a fast-paced environment. Multi-tasking ability and strong focus skills required. Moderate computer skills and technical proficiency desired. Must be comfortable handling a variety of domestic animals, and work well in a team environment. Bilingual (Spanish-English) preferred. Tasks include but are not limited to: evaluating adoption applications, educating the public on humane society standards in accordance with organization guidelines. Must be a quick learner, able to retain and relay information regarding animal health and behavior. Manage a multi-line phone system, introduce adoptable animals to resident pets, photographing and posting animals to website, writing animal profiles and emailing ads to various publications in required format and occasional kennel cleaning. Behavior and Training Team Member

The Santa Fe Animal shelter seeks a motivated individual with experience in animal handling and training to join its Behavior Department. Behavior and Training Team Members work collaboratively with one another other and the Behavior Team Leader in creating, implementing and supporting shelter-approved programs and protocols to support the mental health and well being of the animals in our care. We strive to ensure that the shelter’s behavior, training and enrichment policies and procedures are designed with the benefit and welfare of the animals in mind and followed by anyone working with animals in the shelter. This position requires a flexible schedule and good physical condition, with the ability to, bend over, crouch, lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds and remain on foot, walking for hours at a time. While the majority of the work is generally with dogs, the position requires a willingness and some basic skill in working with a variety of other species as well, including cats, rabbits, small animals, birds, and exotics. Responsibilities include behavior modification and training work, on-site counseling, assessing animals for adopt-ability and safety, effectively communicating with staff, volunteers and public, and otherwise maintaining a positive kennel environment. Shelter Clinic Veterinary Technician

The Santa Fe Animal shelter, one of the most progressive open admission shelters in the country, is seeking an experienced veterinary technician to work in our onsite veterinary clinic. This self-motivated, reliable candidate will be able to administer vaccinations and medication, draw blood, perform euthanasia by injection, run diagnostics and perform general physical examinations while using safe and humane handling methods on all animals entering the facility. Surgical assistance skills including intubation, IV catheter placement and monitoring anesthesia are a plus.  Must be able to work a flexible schedule that will include weekends and some holidays. Full-time position includes benefits such as health insurance and vacation time. Animal Care Attendant

Work directly with animals in a fast-paced, hands-on environment! The Santa Fe Animal Shelter is looking for a full-time animal care attendant. The ideal candidate must be able to multi-task, work well in a stressful environment both independently and as a team, be reliable, have attention to detail and be flexible in scheduling, and must be able to lift 50 pounds comfortably. The Animal Care staff is responsible for the daily cleaning of kennels, laundry, dishes, and the overall aesthetics of the shelter. Observing the animals for any medical concerns is also required. Must be able to work well with cats, dogs, and small animals comfortably, and demonstrate humane handling techniques in accordance with the shelter policies.
