The seventh annual Get Your Kicks on Route 66 plans a stop in Santa Fe on Sunday and with it an opportunity to make a match with adoptable pets and a chance to win dozens of prizes.
The tour, which promotes homeless animals and animal shelters, kicked off Sept. 12 in Riverside, Calif. The pet adoption tour will be in Santa Fe from noon until 4 p.m. Sunday at PetSmart Santa Fe, 3561 Zafarano Drive. Adoptable pets from the Santa Fe animal shelter and Espanola Valley Humane Society will be a part of the adoption event.
Hosted by FIDO Friendly magazine and powered by SprinterRentals, the tour makes 15 stops from California to Chicago along Route 66. The tour has helped more than 6,000 animals find happy homes in the past six years.
One of the tour’s sponsors, Petcurean, is giving away prizes with a drawing at the end of the tour. All who adopt during the week of the event at the Santa Fe animal shelter will be eligible to win.
Sunday’s event features several contests, goody bags, photos and a spinning wheel. A $2 donation per spin offers a chance to win prizes, with all proceeds benefiting the shelter.
