It is truly a community effort to achieve our mission to support animals, save lives, and spread compassion. We are so grateful for your devotion to our cause and the thousands of animals who enter our doors (and your homes!) every year. On average, we invest over $1,800 in every single animal in our care, to ensure they have the nourishment, safety, enrichment, and love they deserve during their stay with us.
I’m Sprout! I’m Just One…
Can you believe I spent 8 long months at Santa Fe Animal Shelter, patiently waiting for someone to adopt me? During this time, I had four different foster families who opened their hearts and homes to me, and so many other friends at the Shelter who never lost hope that I would someday find my perfect, forever home. Well, that day finally came, in the most surprising way!
My new friend Mabel had mistakenly ripped a hole in her hooman’s coat while they were playing (silly, Mabel!) so, they had to take it to their seamstress, Patricia, to get it fixed. Llyd is Mabel’s hooman, and a super dedicated volunteer at Santa Fe Animal Shelter. When Patricia learned this, she asked about ME! She saw my photos on social media and couldn’t wait to meet me! Llyd connected Patricia to my foster family at the time and it was love at first sight. And now I have my very own pawrent! These days, I enjoy long walks on my treadmill, delicious homecooked meals with my mom, and keep the locals company at our alteration business.Â
I’m just one of the 2,270 animals who found their forever homes this past year, thanks to kind, compassionate, and oh so caring hoomans who helped me find my new mom.

Be the One to Help More Animals
Sprout’s story is indeed one of serendipity, hope, and most of all, community. Her story simply would not be told without the support of her fosters, as well as our volunteers, Shelter staff, and donors.
Sprout is just one of the animals who got a new start, thanks to Patricia, just one of the 2,270 who added a Shelter pet to their family last year. You can be the one to help rewrite the story for another animal in need.
This March, we hope to raise $130,000 to support our growing Shelter population. We would be so grateful if you would help us reach that goal.
