Do you know what to do if your dog started choking or how to help your pet in a medical emergency?

The Santa Fe Animal Shelter will be offering a Pet CPR & First Aid Class in partnership with The Frontline Coalition on Saturday, April 27 and another class on Sunday April 28.

The class which is designed for pet parents, people who hang out with animals and pet care professionals,  is taught via lecture, demonstration and hands-on skill practice.  Kate Klasen and Malinda Malone are both certified Pet Tech Instructors and will offer animal pet first aid training to pet advocates in Santa Fe.

Learn over 50 skills to help be prepared in the event of a pet emergency. The hands-on class includes; basic restraint and muzzling, how to identify an emergency, rescue breathing for dogs and cats and how to deal with choking issues.

The 6.5-hour class, which will be held at the Santa Fe Animal Shelter,  includes a handbook to take home and upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate to document their training. Space is limited and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the homeless animals of northern New Mexico. The class cost $125 – $160 with a portion of the proceeds benefitting homeless animals in the community.
