Since 1939, Santa Fe Animal Shelter has been dedicated to our mission to support animals, save lives, and spread compassion. A gift to Santa Fe Animal Shelter through your will or living trust is a powerful statement of your support to the thousands of homeless animals that come through our doors every year.

As a 501c3 nonprofit organization, nearly all of our funding comes from amazing supporters like you. Our federal tax ID # is 85-6000484.

Ways to Give

  • Leave a direct gift to the Santa Fe Animal Shelter
  • Make a planned gift to the Santa Fe Animal Shelter Endowment Fund
  • Name the Shelter as a direct beneficiary of your IRA, 401K, or another financial instrument
  • Establish a “Donor Advised Fund” or a personal “Designated Endowment Fund” which are available through our partner at the Santa Fe Community Foundation

If you have already named SFAS in your estate plans, please let us know. Notifying us of your bequest allows us to understand and honor your intentions and steward your gift as you wish. All information is kept strictly confidential.

Donate From Your IRA

Another option is to donate your mandatory IRA distribution.  If you are 70.5 years or older, donating your mandatory distribution directly to the Shelter can avoid taxes up to $100,000. Instead of being taxed as income to you, the animals benefit from 100% of the distribution when donated directly to us.  Click here if you are interested in donating your IRA distribution.

Give the Gift of Stock

The same is true of appreciated stock. You can avoid capital gains by donating stock directly to us. No age requirement for that. Click here if you would like to donate stocks and securities to Santa Fe Animal Shelter.
