As we reflect on the past, it’s clear that anything is possible when we work together!

Our Vision for the Next Decade

We can’t look to the future without recognizing where we came from– and if you’ve been following our emails this month, you know just how far we have come! Once a small shelter on Cerrillos Road, SFAS dared to dream of more for homeless animals. Newspaper headlines from the time painted a bleak picture, but today, we celebrate headlines of hope and progress. 

In the coming years, we will look forward to expanding our impact and revamping our connections within and beyond the Santa Fe community. 

A key part of this vision is educating the public on the importance of spay/neuter to reduce overpopulation and improve animal welfare. We see a future where spay/neuter awareness is widespread, and affordable services are readily available to everyone. By preventing unplanned litters, we can significantly reduce the number of homeless animals and ensure that every pet has a loving home.

We move into the future by building more partnerships within the community, working hand-in-hand with other animal welfare organizations and nonprofits to create a network of care and support. By collaborating with like-minded groups, we can share resources, knowledge, and expertise, amplifying our collective impact. Together, we can tackle larger issues and create a more humane and compassionate society.

Having laid the cornerstone, we see SFAS becoming a more valuable resource for pet owners, offering expanded opportunities for animal training and education. We know our community loves their pets and we will use our experience and knowledge to help us all achieve the best level of care for our animals. This includes offering more training programs to address behavioral issues, hosting workshops on various aspects of pet care, and being an accessible resource for pet owners seeking advice and support. 

Ultimately, our vision for the next decade is one of growth, collaboration, and positive change. We believe that by working together with our community, we can create a brighter future for animals in New Mexico and beyond. Every step we take today brings us closer to a tomorrow where every animal is cherished, and every pet owner is empowered with the knowledge and resources they need!
