Pet Licensing – it’s more than just a good idea.

Having a valid pet license …

• can help get your pet home to you faster if he/she becomes lost
• will reduce fines if your pet is picked up
• will keep you in compliance with state and local Animal Control Ordinances.

Purchase your license online using DocuPet:

DocuPet is the official pet licensing partner of Santa Fe Animal Shelter. Please click here to license your pet in just a few easy steps. After you submit your information and payment, you will receive your tag and certificate by mail. Please note: Tags are intended to last several years. If this is a renewal, you will receive an updated certificate. Replacement tags, if needed, are available and prices vary from City to County.

License fees:

City residents:
Altered animal – $10 per year
Unaltered animal – $50 per year
(Please Note: City residents have the option of a 1-, 2- or 3-year license.)

County residents:
Altered animals – $10 per year
Unaltered animals – $25 per year

To purchase a pet license, you will need:

1)  A copy of your pet’s current rabies certificate
2)  Proof of spay or neuter
3)  Payment
4)  Photo ID if paying with credit or debit card on site

Purchase your license in-person:

(3 locations to choose from)  Make sure to bring a copy of your pet’s current rabies certificate with you.
