Spay/Neuter & Wellness Clinic

All services are by appointment only and with curb-side check in for your convenience. Located at 2570-B Camino Entrada the Shelter offers low-cost spay and neuter programs to help ensure fewer unwanted puppies and kittens and to help with overall health of pets. There are limited no-cost spay or neuter surgeries available for qualified families.

Spay and Neuter

  • Mondays: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Thursday: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Friday: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Please note there is a $50 cancellation fee deposit required for all spay and neuter appointments.

  • Printable price list in English and Español
  • Dogs: $250* for spay/neuter surgery, includes Rabies vaccine, Distemper/Parvo vaccine, and microchip done at the time of surgery.
  • Cats: $150* for spay/neuter surgery, includes Rabies vaccine and microchip done at the time of surgery.
  • Domesticated rabbits: $150*

*Rabbits must be at least 6 months of age before surgery.

*All rabbits must be vaccinated for Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus at least 2 weeks prior to your appointment. These vaccines are available through the Thaw Animal Hospital at 505.983.2755.

* A non-refundable deposit of $50 is required at the time of booking the surgical appointment.

*Additional fees apply for pregnant/in-heat animals, for cryptorchid males, and for dogs over 100 pounds. We are happy to help you spay/neuter your pet if you live outside of Santa Fe County for an additional fee of $50 per animal.

Trap, Neuter, Return for Community Cats

Santa Fe City & County residents can bring trapped cats to be spayed or neutered before 10 a.m. to the Spay/Neuter & Wellness clinic on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays only. Animals must arrive inside a secure trap that is covered with a sheet or towel. They will be spayed or neutered, ear tipped, vaccinated, and treated with flea prevention. They will not be provided with a microchip and they must be picked up by 4 p.m. the same day unless otherwise instructed. Traps are available through Animal Services at 505.955.2708 or through the Shelter’s Animal Resource Center at 505.983.4309 ext. 1606. Thank you for helping care for Santa Fe’s cats!
