Will you be a guiding light
this holiday season?
When Charlie first arrived at Santa Fe Animal Shelter, his future seemed as bright as the New Mexico sky. He was just a blur of fur and joy, a tiny fluffy explorer chasing light wherever it led. Charlie didn’t stay long; a family fell in love with him, and instantly took him home.

When Charlie returned to us this summer, it was clear he needed help. His hips were failing him, leaving him in constant pain and unable to move the way he once did. The light in his eyes was still there, it just needed a little help finding its way back.
Your compassion is the light that guides animals like Charlie through their darkest nights. Because of you, our medical team was ready when he needed us most. With your help, Charlie received a complex surgery to ease his suffering and give him the chance to walk again, a procedure that took precision, patience, and hope.

And then something wonderful happened. A family who had once adopted another SFAS dog with hip issues had just lost their beloved senior dog. When they met Charlie, they knew he was the one. The universe had guided him home once more, just as your light had guided him through the darkness.

Watch Charlie’s story to see how your generosity makes our community a brighter, kinder place to be.
Here in New Mexico, we know the power of a star-lit sky. The North Star has always helped travelers find their way, steady and sure, even when the night feels endless. For animals like Charlie, you are that North Star.
Your kindness gives them direction. Your generosity gives them hope. Your love leads them home.
